Melas Karagiannis

Melas Karagiannis was born on 30th August 1970 in the Czech Republic. He attended drawing lessons with Professor Filippos Manos in Thessaloniki of Greece and engraving lessons at the Municipal Art Gallery of Larissa G.I. Katsigra. Currently he is studying in the School of Fine Arts in Berlin of Germany. His artworks are mainly anthropocentric and more specifically present female faces and bodies with elements of symbolism. The materials are acrylic or ink on canvas or paper. In addition to the above some of his artworks are made from recycled materials. Melas presented his artworks in a number of personal exhibitions (2017 – Gallery „En Larissi“ Larissa, Greece; 2016 – Hotel “Soulioti”, Agia Larissas, Greece; 2014 – Art café Larissa, Greece; 2006 – Gallery-Cafe „Iridanos“, Larissa, Greece, 2006 – Gallery „Insel“, Stuttgart, Germany; 2004 – Gallery „Art- Center“, Larissa, Greece, 1999 – Gallery „Mango“, Osnabruck – Germany). He also participated in numerous group exhibitions (2020 – Public Music school of Larissa, Greece; 2019 – Barton Rehearsal and Stage, Gazi, Athens, Greece; 2018 – Municipal Art Gallery of Larissa G.I. Katsigra; 2015 – Hotel Mpellogianni, Ioannina, Greece; 2015 – Halki Seminari, Instabul, Turkey; 2015 – Gallery Terzo Mondo, Berlin – Germany; 2014 – ΟΚΑΝΑ, Greece; 2013 – French Institute, Greece; 2013 – Art Zone Gallery, Athens; 2012 – Art Zone Gallery, Athens; 2012 – French Institute, Greece; 2012 – Wine Vineyard Stavraki , Tirnavos, Greece; 2010 – Oia Island, Greece; 2004, 2005 – Zappeio Megaro, Athens, Greece. His works have been placed in various hospitals in Greece, after an effort by psychologists and psychiatrists, to contribute to the calm and relaxation of charged and overworked patients. Melas Karagiannis also voluntarily participates with his designs in a printed and electronic magazine of Larissa (Greece) where they comment on the daily life of the city. Melas Karagiannis lives and works in Larissa, Greece.
