Mahboubeh Pakdel was born in Mashhad, Iran. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and has been working professionally as a cartoonist since 2011. Her work combines precision, humor, and social awareness, exploring themes of freedom of expression, social justice, and cultural identity through symbolic visual language. She has participated in numerous international exhibitions and festivals, receiving several major distinctions, including the Grand Prize at the Porto Cartoon World Festival (Portugal, 2016), the Gold Award at the International Comic Art Biennial (China, 2019), the First Prize at the VIII Bienal de Humor (Portugal, 2022), and the Amnesty International Prize at the 35th Olense Kartoenale (Belgium, 2023). In addition to these distinctions, she has received numerous other international awards and recognitions throughout her career. In 2024, her work was selected for the Olympus of Caricature exhibition in Belgium, featuring fifteen internationally recognized cartoonists. She is actively involved in promoting international dialogue among cartoonists and contributes to the development of the art form through professional writing. Her published articles include Challenges of Creativity in Cartooning (FECO News, 2024) and From Study to Image, co-written with French cartoonist Bernard Bouton (European Cartoon Gallery, 2025). She lives and works in Mashhad, Iran.
