Mariagrazia Quaranta - GIO

Mariagrazia Quaranta alias “GIO” was born in 1963 in Abruzzi, Italy. She graduated in architecture in Pescara. She has been working as an architect, designer and freelance cartoonist and caricaturist for some important Italian and international magazines. She was inserted in “Colto Circuito” of Italian National Association of Humorists since 2006. Her favourite artistic techniques are acrylics, drawing inks and watersoluble pencils for their possibility of improvising. Her artworks have been shown in international individual and collective exhibitions, eg: 2009 – Book “Identita sospese” presented at the Modern Art Museum in Pescara (Italy), 2013 –  Museum of cartoon, illustration and animated image Milan (Italy), 2013 – Salao de Humor Piracicaba (Brazil), 2014 – Women and Humour Gallarate (Italy), 2014 – Museo de humor Buenos Aires (Argentina). Her works were selected in many cartoon contests and she received various awards: 2004 – Marostica (Italy), 2004 – Tenerife (Spain), 2006 – Foligno (Italy), 2008 – SatirOffida (Italy) – 3rd Prize, 2009 – L’Ortica (Italy) – Special mention, 2009 – St. Just-Le Marte (France), 2009 – Monza (Italy), 2010 – Valencia (Spain), 2012 – International Tourism cartoon Competition (Turkey), 2012 – Irancartoon.com (Iran), 2012 – Penela (Portugal), 2012 and 2013 – Gallarate (Italy) – Special mention, 2013 – Cartoon Africa (Nigeria) – Winner, 2013 – Zielona Gora (Poland), 2013 – Nasreddin Hodja (Turkey), 2013 – Red Man (China), 2013 – Aydin Dogan  (Turkey), 2014 – Press Cartoon Europe 2014 (Belgium) – Prefinalist, 2014 – World Gallery of Cartoons (Macedonia) – Outstanding cartoonist, 2014 – Max Minus (Bosnia&Herzegovina) – Special mention, 2014 – Irancartoon.com (Iran), 2014 – Salon Mercosur  (Argentina) – Special mention, etc. Mariagrazia Quaranta “Gio” is living and painting in Abruzzi, Italy.
