Oleg DERGACHOV

Oleg Dergachov was born on 18th July 1961 in Rostov, Russia. He graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Fine Arts with Master in Arts degree in 1984. Between 1996 to 2004 he attended additional study in the field of sculpture in Germany and Poland. In 1990 he founded Studio DO which created several public art projects such as famous “Monument of Smile” in Surgut (Russia), “Smiling Fish” in Lviv (Ukraine) and many others. His publishing studio DO PRESS released more than 35 artist’s unique books. In 2005 Oleg Dergachov moved with his family to Montreal, Canada. He is currently working as a freelance artist concentrated mainly to painting, graphic art, cartooning, illustration, design and sculptures. He also continues his art activity in Studio DO managing art projects. Since 1985 he participated in more than 300 national and international exhibitions and won over 70 prestigious awards. Mr. Dergachov held about 40 solo exhibitions of cartoons, sculptures, graphics, design, and books in many countries of the world. Artworks by Oleg Dergachov are in permanent collections of numerous museums and galleries around the world (the Pushkin Museum, Moscow, the Russian State Library, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris among many others)His cartoons have been published in numerous periodicals all around the world. Mr. Dergachov holds title the Cavalier of the French Academy of Humour. He is a member of international art associations: the Association of Canadian cartoonists, the International Journal of Comic Art in USA, the Union of Artists of Ukraine, the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society and the California Printmaker’s Society, USA. He is also a renowned lecturer – has given numerous lectures in Canada, USA, Italy, China, Slovakia and Ukraine. Oleg Dergachov is living and working in Montreal, Canada.
